Winter Weather Reminders
As winter weather approaches, we want to ensure everyone stays safe and prepared. Here are some important reminders to keep in mind:
No Parking on Roadways: On-street parking is not permitted during snow and ice events. Keeping the roads clear of vehicles improves the efficiency of our Public Works Department. If off-street parking is unavailable near your home, you can park your vehicle at any Township Park ahead of time. This allows our crews to clear the roads safely and efficiently. Your cooperation helps ensure everyone's safety and improves the speed of snow removal.
Clear Your Sidewalks: It is the property owner’s responsibility to clear sidewalks and walkways of snow and ice as soon as possible but within 12 hours of last snowfall. Keeping them clear prevents accidents and ensures safe passage for pedestrians.
Shovel Right: When clearing your property, do not deposit snow into roadways. This can create hazards for motorists and delays for plows. Please shovel snow onto your own property, not onto the street.
Drive Safely & Keep Your Distance: Stay at least 6 car lengths behind snowplows. Don’t crowd the plow! Our plow crew works hard to clear the roads, and staying a safe distance ensures your safety and the safety of our crew.
🚶♂️❄️ Winter Walking Trails & Road Safety Reminder: Designated asphalt walking trails in the Township are not considered sidewalks and do not require snow or ice removal. Our staff focuses on maintaining the safety of the roads during winter conditions. As such, the Township does not perform winter maintenance on these trails.
For your safety, please remember to plan ahead 😊
Please contact the township administrative office at 610-458-9400 or the Police Department at 610-458-5862 with any questions.
Stay safe and warm, Upper Uwchlan Township!
