Winter Weather Alert

Wednesday, December 16, 2020

A winter storm warning is in effect for Upper Uwchlan Township and our region beginning at 12 noon today, December 16, 2020. Heavy snow and high winds are expected. Visit the National Weather Service for our region at weather.gov/phi for an up-to-date forecast.

Avoid unnecessary travel, use caution when driving, and stay at least six car lengths back and away from snow plows. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, blankets, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

The Upper Uwchlan Township administration office will close at 1:00 PM today.

Street Parking Prohibited

Now is the time to move your car off the street!

Residents are reminded to remove all vehicles from public roadways during a winter weather event – There is NO PARKING on the roadway during snow and ice events that require plowing and/or salting. Vehicles parked on the roadway interfere with plowing and salting operations and will be ticketed and/or towed.

Stay Informed, Be Prepared

Power Outages Possible

The wind in the forecast means that power outages are a possibility. Please call your electric provider (not 9-1-1) to report a power outage. To report downed power lines and outages to PECO, visit peco.com/outages or call 1-800-841-4141. View the PECO outage map at this link. Keep in mind that outages may also affect your phone and internet service.

To prepare for potential power outages, make sure your emergency kit is stocked with flashlights and extra batteries, as well as non-perishable food, water, and warm clothing. NEVER use portable generators indoors or attempt to heat your home with an oven or stove.

Shoveling Tips

It is a property owner’s responsibility to maintain the walkways free of snow and ice. Residents are reminded to clear their sidewalks or walkways no longer than 12 hours from the conclusion of a snow/ice event.

Shoveling can take a toll on your health! Dress warmly, take frequent breaks, and consult your doctor if you have a heart condition.

Do not deposit snow (shovel and/or snow blower) into the roadway when clearing your driveway or sidewalks. The USPS would like to remind you to clear the snow from the front of your mailbox to facilitate mail delivery.
