CHESTER SPRINGS, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) announced today it will receive public comments and host a virtual public hearing regarding major permit amendment requests from Sunoco Pipeline LP (SPLP) for work near Marsh Creek Lake, Upper Uwchlan Township, Chester County. The permit requests seek to amend or change the route and installation method of the Mariner East Pipeline in the location known as HDD 290. This is the location of SPLP’s August 10, 2020 release of approximately 8,000 gallons of drilling fluid that impacted a wetland, two tributaries, and Marsh Creek Lake, as well as several subsidence events.

DEP’s announcement today, May 7, 2021, marks the official opening of a 45-day public comment period. Comments can be submitted via email to email@example.com or by hard copy to Department of Environmental Protection, Southeast Regional Office, Waterways and Wetlands Program, 2 East Main Street, Norristown, PA 19401.
