Lyndell Road Bridge to Close for Repair

CHESTER SPRINGS, PA – Construction activity is slated to begin soon on the Lyndell Road Bridge. The bridge, located near the intersection of Lyndell Road and Creek Road (Pennsylvania Route 282), traverses the East Branch of the Brandywine Creek and the municipal boundary between Upper Uwchlan and East Brandywine Townships.

East Brandywine Township is currently accepting bids to repair the Lyndell Road Bridge and surrounding asphalt roadway. The concrete deck on the bridge is deteriorating in certain areas. Sections of the bridge will be removed and replaced, and a new bituminous overlay will be applied. In addition, the road surface between the bridge and Creek Road will be milled and overlaid. The bridge was constructed in 1971 and is 77 feet in length. This project is being jointly funded by East Brandywine Township and Upper Uwchlan Township.

The project is scheduled to be awarded in August, with work to begin soon thereafter. Construction is expected to take approximately 60 days. During construction, the bridge will be closed entirely. There will be no access for residents or for emergency vehicles. The Reeds Road bridge provides alternate access to the Davenport and Lyndenwood communities in Upper Uwchlan Township.

Additional information about this closure will be posted on the Upper Uwchlan Township website,, after the project is awarded.
